Tennis Anyone?

I played tennis with Samantha today. She was afraid to try surfing. Maybe next week. She's doing pretty good for a beginner. She got me all tuckered out. I was chasing balls all over the court. Big Wave isn't as quick as he once was.

The only drain is that I had to wear sneakers. That really cramps my style. Same deal when I go hiking. I have to wear boots. Give me slippahs each and everyday!!! Don't even get me going on wearing pants.

Wet Canvas

An artist needs a canvas. I have a brush and paint. Show me where you'd like me to paint my masterpiece.

Happy Days Are Here Again

"Rock me baby." That's what the ocean did...She showed me who's boss. It was fun though. I managed a couple in between getting tossed every which way. At least there were some waves!!!

A note to first time readers: No blog entry means no waves. Not to worry, "Happy Days Are Here Again!"

Goofy

If you place your right foot forward, you are considered to ride goofy foot as opposed to regular/natural foot where your left foot is forward. These terms are simply referred to as Regular or Goofy. Interestingly enough, the term 'goofy' comes from a 1937 Walt Disney Short, "Hawaiian Holiday," where Goofy surfs with his right foot forward. This term still holds true today in all board sports, e.g., surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding.

If you wanna see Goofy surf (actually catch a wave) go to the 7:40 mark. This is where the term originates.

Free Lessons

Brought Melora, a yoga instructor, surfing today. She had previous fears of the Ocean. I hooked up with Barry who just moved in for the Season. He let me borrow a soft board. I offered him money, but he refused. Ah, Maine--The Way Life Should Be.

Melora struggled at first but began to rock the waves. Bear in mind, I took her to an advanced level class. We didn't pitter-patter with the white water. She was catching real waves.

I returned the board to Barry with some surfers' brew, PBR. So both Melora and Barry are stoked!!!

Nice Sets

As I reached the crest of the dunes, I noticed four well-formed mounds peering from the sand. Was this a sandcastle? No, apparently clothing is optional at the office.

Oh yeah, back to work. There were nice sets coming in this morning. Had some really fun rides. Too bad the interns got canned. They would have enjoyed the morning session. Although they probably would have been snoozing. That's why they got the axe.

Speckled

Originally Fred and I were gonna hike Mahoosuc Notch but opted for a warm up run. Good thing we did because we were both a huffin' and a pufffin' within the first 10 minutes. This is a view from Speckled Mountain--supposedly an easy trek. Hiking is brutal. Fred's a warrior. He tells me all I do is bitch and moan every hike.

It is only now that I am reminded...I was out of commission for a whole week last year after our Mt. Washington hike. Woulda posted yesterday, but I was beat and crashed hard!!!

Next time, if I'm not officially retired from hiking, I'm gonna hire a helicopter to get back down. Once reaching the top, there is no need to hike back down. Going up is bad, but coming down is worse.
